Timber Trusses - Answers To Your Questions
Timber Trusses can be incorporated into any type construction including Stud-Wall, SIPS and our proprietary ShopBuilt™ Prefabricated Wall Systems.
If no special finish is specified, your heavy timber trusses and beams will be delivered “S4S”, (smooth surfaces on all timber faces) which is the standard appearance for most timber trusses and beams. You have multiple finishing option including unfinished, hand hewn, planed, distressed, chamfered or rounded edges, and stained or oiled with your choice of color. We provide clients with samples to view prior to deciding how to finish their timbers.
Standard Styles include King Post, Hammerbeam, Queen Post, Scissor and Collar Tie Heavy Timber Roof Trusses. We can also custom design any style, length or design with flexible span, pitch and on-center spacing. By providing us with your specifications we can design and manufacture a timber trruss system to meet your needs.
We can supply Structural T & Groove Decking – 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x in variety of wood species. SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels) and other optional items.
We are advocates for using Structural Insulated Panels as an integrated roof frame/insulation solution over our timber trusses.
Fabrication & Installation
Shop drawings are a crucial part of what we do. We begin each project with the creation of a detailed set of shop drawings. We take great care with the process. No cuts happen to timbers without full review of the shop drawings and final sign off from the customer . We pre-assemble each piece in the shop during the crafting and fabrication process to ensure a good fit on the jobsite. While some components will arrive to your jobsite assembled, many are too large and will be disassembled and bundled for shipping. They will arrive at you job site where you or your general contractor will perform the installation. All hardware necessary for installation is included. We also offer on-site timber frame assembly and installation services to expedite the raising of your timber frame components.
We have built timber trusses for both residential and commercial projects from Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Port Orford Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Oak and Cypress. Dependent upon the scope and structural requirements of the project we may recommend a specific species based upon engineering requirements.
Lead Time & Terms
Every project is unique and scope and lead time is effected by work scope. Generally speaking, most projects carry an 8-10 week lead time from when we receive your contract and deposit payment. Some smaller projects can be done in 6-8 weeks and larger ones can take as long as 12-14 weeks. When you are ready to have us provide a quote contact us for more specific lead times.
Sales Contracts are written for each project that describe the scope of work and contract price. The total contract price is generally split into three equal payments. The first payment is a deposit due at the time of signing the purchase agreement. This gets your project into the schedule and our resources dedicated to producing shop drawings. The second payment coincides with the purchase of the materials and delivery from our vendor to our shop for fabrication. As crafting and fabrication nears completion the final invoice will be sent and once payment is received the shipping arrangements can be made. Unless other arrangments are made in advance, all payments are expected prior to delivery.
